The roof tiles are made from a special selection of Mediterranean clays stock-piled in open air flat lands to ensure their homogenous composition.  Later, the clay is ground up and mixed in exact proportions for each product type, thanks to the computerization of the process.  Thus, an ultra fine and totally homogeneous grain is obtained. Then, the combination is mixed and, after performing an extrusion process in which the mixture is subjected to a vacuum and compacted to the utmost, it’s ready for production of different types of roof tiles with a 50 year guarantee.  Once the roofing tiles have been produced, they are marked to maintain traceability and taken to the dryer where the water they contained is completely evaporated.  During this process, there is a control of the moisture in real time by means of multiple sensors.  When the tiles come out of the dryer, they are decorated and classified individually.  Those pieces that fail to meet La Escandella’s standards of quality are separated for recycling.

The firing of the tile is then carried out in a tunnel kiln, verified by a controlled and thermally balanced system.  When they come out of the kiln, the fired pieces are classified and each piece is examined one-by-one by expert hands who decide whether the final product has the perfect finish worthy of La Escandella’s guarantee of quality.

La Escandella roofing tiles amply exceeds the most demanding international quality standards.  They are extremely resistant to the force of the wind.  Roofs made with La Escandella roofing tiles can withstand wind speed of up to 160mph.  (Tested by Miami-Dade to over 160mph).

The technology used in the all the manufacturing processes is the most advanced and precise in the sector and these processes are fuelled by natural gas.  All of the residues generated are recycled as energy.  In the preparation and coloring of the roof tile, the use of lead has been completely excluded.
